We took the day off work on Friday, September 25, to play CPE agility at American K-9 Country, our first trial in three months. The last time we were in this building, back in June, Peach was stressed in the ring, Truffle had a scare on the teeter, and Russet carried the weekend. This time, everyone was wonderful.
Russet: star of the car, again
Russet is a sensitive guy, and the first time I brought him to AK9C, he was nervous. He’s really blossomed since. On Friday he went two for two, with Qs in Jumpers 3 and Full House 3, and he was the star of the car just like in June. Moments like this make it hard to believe this boy has ever lacked for confidence.

Truffle: a Level 5 Q and a gamble too far
Truffle ran nicely, if a little overexcited, and came away with a Q in Colors 5. Jackpot 3 was another story. The gamble at the end, where she has to work at a distance from me, was just well above our skill level, so it’s going on the list of things to train. As for the teeter, we didn’t do anything with it this time.

Peach: a slow start, then a Q
Peach was much more engaged than the last time she was here. In June she was stressed in the ring and only settled once we got up to the mezzanine. On Friday her first run, Jumpers 2, was an NQ, and she needed some cheerleading from me along the way. By her second run she was playing nicely and with a lot more enthusiasm, and she earned a Q in Colors 2.

I’m so proud of all of them!
